Sierra joined BatCat Press in the spring semester of last year. She’s a senior this year and we’re very excited to see what she does, both this year on staff and after graduation! In her time so far on BatCat she’s already accomplished a lot, including going to our yearly event at AWP, revolutionizing our pin industry, and generally helping us branch out as a small press.

Sierra is one of the few people on staff who has experience with graphic design and photoshop, and the only person (aside from Mrs. Baringer, our managing editor) who can navigate InDesign, the software we use to format all of our digitally printed books. She  also has experience with 3D animation.

Sierra is a young entrepreneur in a lot of ways. She may have just joined BatCat last spring, but she has been involved with projects for much longer than that. One of the ideas she had was to start a monthly pin subscription called “Nuclear Pins” – named in part due to BatCat’s close proximity to a nuclear power plant. The plan was that each month a series of new pins with different designs would be sent out to subscribers. BatCat has been looking for ways to branch out like this, and Sierra fronted this idea. The pin subscription service still has some bugs to work out, but she played a big part in initially bringing the idea to life.

Sierra is technically a junior but will be graduating with the senior class this year because she’s completed all of her credits. She’s hoping to go to school in Washington D.C. to study government. We know that with all of her drive and various talents, she’ll go on to do amazing things after her time here on BatCat.
