We have two new publications on deck for release in May, 2011: Ox, a poetry collection by Ryan Ridge, and Where Nothing Can Grow, a poetry chapbook by Renee Emerson. Demo copies of each title will be available for preview next week at AWP – we hope you’ll be able to stop by! In the meantime, click here to meet our 2011 authors.

Next week we will announce our new titles for 2011. We have two new projects that we’re very excited about and can’t wait to share with you!

This Sunday @ SPF: Bookbinding Workshop!

This Sunday at SPF, BatCat will be hosting a FREE bookbinding workshop beginning at 4pm. We’ll cover basic techniques that anyone can use to create a little chapbook on the fly. Come make a book or two and meet the talented student staff!

Yes, the summer has been flying by, and so has our summer reading period. We’ve received an outstanding and overwhelming number of submissions so far – thank you! But there’s always room for more…
If you haven’t yet sent us your amazing manuscript, you can do so until 11:59pm on Saturday, July 31!

We’d like to thank everyone who attended LAVA, and to everyone who picked up book or two. Thank you for your support, and we hope you enjoy the books!
If you were unable to attend and would like to purchase a copy of any of our publications, please email us at batcatpress@gmail.com and we will get right back to you. We are in the process of setting up an online ordering system, but there are a few issues we have to address before launching. But yes – you can order a copy now!
Finally, a reminder – our 2010 Summer Reading Period begins on June 1st. We’ve already received a number of excellent queries and early submissions, but are looking forward to seeing even more throughout the month of June. Any genre, any form, any length – send it all our way!

Lincoln Park’s premiere literary and visual arts festival, LAVA, will be happening on May 26 and 27, 2010. Events include an art show, video festival, senior reading, the release of 2010′s edition of pulp, student awards, and a reading by our keynote speaker, Neil McCormick, author of Killing Bono. BatCat Press will be there too, of course! We’ll be helping kick-off LAVA on Tuesday, May 25 with an in-school reading. Our official public book release and signing will begin at 5:30om on Thursday, May 27. We will have copies of The One That Counts, This Boy, This Broom, and Ars Poetica available for purchase. P. Edward Cunningham and Rosemary Macuga will be on hand to read selections and sign copies. We will also have an array of handmade chapbooks and journals.
