While Handmade Arcade isn’t a “literary” gathering, it is a celebration of craft. Binding by hand is one of our passions, and we’re excited to be involved in this unique event!

There are still a few more days to submit to our summer reading period! We are taking any and all submissions through July 31. And to all of those who have already submitted, thank you! We will be in touch soon.

In other news, Rosemary Macuga, author of 2010′s The One That Counts will be reading and giving a presentation at the Seven Spring Storywalk on August 20th. If you are in the area, come out to meet her and have an in-person look at The One That Counts. More copies will be made available shortly!

Also don’t forget that our 2011 titles, Ox by Ryan Ridge and Where Nothing Can Grow by Renee Emerson are both still available for purchase online: click here.

Lately we’ve been trying to get the word out even further about BatCat. We’re now listed at both Poets & Writers and NewPages, both great resources if you haven’t already checked them out. We’d also like to remind everyone that we are on Facebook – add BatCat as your friend! (We promise not to send you any annoying messages.)

Also, don’t forget that our latest titles are available online at this link: click here. We are still working on getting a more formal online store up and running, but for now we’re using Google Checkout with Buy Now buttons. If you have any questions, feel free to email us!

What you need to know:
- Submissions are open to everyone. We welcome work from writers and artists of all ages, from the successfully published to those submitting work for the very first time.
- All genres and forms are welcome, including (but not limited to): fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry, plays, novels, short story collections, graphic novels, children’s literature, illustrated works, multimedia or hybrid works, and so on and so forth.
- Submissions can be of any length. We publish in a variety of formats including everything from full-length books to petite chapbooks to broadsides. Any work that you consider worthy of standing alone, be it a full-length poetry book or a single brilliant piece of non-fiction, will be equally considered.

Submissions will be accepted through July 31, 2011. We also accept queries all year round, but we usually find our main publications through summer submissions, so send your work in soon!

Send submissions as an attachment (.pdf, .doc, or .rtf) to batcatpress@gmail.com. Please include a short introduction or cover letter (informal is fine!).
